Wear It Pink Periscoping
“Every year, wear it pink raises around £2 million during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, by asking people to wear something pink and donate whatever they can.”
This year for Wear it Pink Day on the 23rd of October, Carpe Harmonia hosted a fun Wear it Pink rehearsal and streamed it live via Periscope.
Each member had to turn up at the rehearsal sporting their best pink outfit and/or bring a pink treat for the break as well as a 50p donation to the cause. Every second of the rehearsal was to be streamed directly to the web via the Periscope app, and finally we were to sing through everything we had learnt in that rehearsal with little to no hiccups along the way.
No pressure whatsoever for our Conductor, Michael Spence!
The day arrived and we transformed our rehearsal space into a pink wonderland. Balloons, streamers, and Fashion Crime stickers ready for those who needed them! We set up the camera for the live stream and tried our best to avoid eye contact as much as possible. With the camera that is, not the conductor!
Despite a few suspicious harmonies in Skyfall and the very frequent (and rather cheeky) glances at the camera, the whole evening went down a treat and we raised enough to buy 100 pipette tips used for handling cells, helping the Breast Cancer researchers accurately study how breast cancer develops and how it spreads.
