Carpe Harmonia a Yuletide review

This year Carpe Harmonia was lucky enough to gain 3 Christmas carolling gigs. We made some new friends and strengthened some old connections.

Our first gig was at Pedley Street station as part of the Summer nights productions Monday night gigs. We all gathered at our new favourite venue on the 2nd of December. In awe of the Art Deco decor we settled in for a night of entertainment from a wide selection of new performers. We were wowed by magic, titillated by some burlesque and serenaded by some lovely acoustic tracks. Then it was our turn, we performed a selection of our favourite carols and some of our other up beat numbers, we even got the chance to try out some new material which went down a treat! All in all a fabulous night had by all and hopefully the first of many!

Our second gig was at Pimlico station to raise money for Choirs for change on the 10th of December. This year our money went towards midwifery and women’s health care in poverty stricken communities. This year we had a longer a lot than previous years, so it was a baptism of fire for a brand new members who flourished under the pressure. We performed a selection of festive favourites including the classic Jingle bells which always brings a smile to the face of passing commenters and is always requested by the Choir for change team. Then it was off to our Christmas social for nibbles and snowballs to ring in the festive season! This year we raised £326 which “could provide 6 community health workers with the training and resources needed to promote nutrition in their communities. It would also provide 180 undernourished children with the emergency treatment needed to improve their health”.

Our final Christmas Gig was at the Royal London hospital raising money for Barts Health Charity on the 16th of December. We were lucky enough to be in prime position in the Foyer of the main hospital. We were joined by two lovely ladies from the Barts charity and of course their cheeky elf friend. We lived performing for patients, relatives and staff a like and loved bringing a bit of festive cheer to everybody’s day.

In conclusion, our festive this season was busier than usual but a definite success. We gave our new members a good opportunity to dive straight into the Carpe Harmonia spirit of giving and spreading joy, especially at Christmas.

If you missed us at Christmas never fear there are still tickets for our winter concert “Dreams of sleep”, check out our events page for more details and how to buy your tickets.
